Lou Brutus is the world renowned host of beloved rock radio show hardDrive. For over 12 years he has built his reputation as the finest interviewer in the history of broadcasting by traveling the globe with the greatest stars in rock. He is a living legend who’s legend of living will live as legend long after many other living legends no longer live legendarily.
What surprises many is that Brutus is based just outside of Joplin. He lives somewhere on the Jasper/Newton border in a ramshackle cabin, built from remnants of the old Connor Hotel, where he is often to be found in a catatonic stupor with his hands gripping vintage automatic weapons that allegedly belonged to the Barrow Gang. He also keeps a penthouse suite at the top of the Old Joplin Building Supply Company where he can be seen many nights throwing water balloons at passing police cars.
His radio brilliance is eclipsed only by his extreme personal instability. Among his claims: his parents were Joplin natives Dennis Weaver and Mrs. Miller; that he was the actual creator of the HBO show “Deadwood” which was going to have been a Joplin themed program called “Leawood” and that he has the ability to channel the spirit of city namesake, the late Reverend Harris Joplin, who causes him to speak in tongues. Frankly, the boy ain't wrapped too tight.
If you look for him at the studio he may run out the back in a paranoid frenzy. Or he may sneak around the side while you’re at the front door and try to do your girlfriend while she’s waiting out in the car. We claim no responsibility for him. He just interviews rock stars for us. Other then that, all bets are off. |
